China has approved plans to build 10 new nuclear power units, with a total investment of RMB200 billion (approximately USD27.7 billion), according to Nikkei Asia. This move is anticipated to enable China to excel the United States by 2030, becoming the world's largest country in terms of nuclear power installed capacity. The new nuclear power units will be built in the provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with all planned locations along the coast. The power plants will be run by the two Chinese nuclear energy companies, in addition to state-owned power companies such as State Power Investment Corp. and China Huaneng Group.
