NEW WORLD DEV (00017.HK)'s US$345 million perpetual bond has reached the material date today (16th). If the Company chooses not to redeem it by today's deadline, the bond will need to be repriced, with the coupon rate expected to increase from 6.15% to 10.2%, resulting in an additional annual interest expense of approx. $100 million. Moreover, NEW WORLD DEV may opt to defer all perpetual bond interest payments on 9 June, which UBS estimated could save the Group about $1.9 billion in annual cash interest expenses.
