<H Shrs>HSI Bounces Back 363 Pts; Chips & CN Insurers Boom; Yet Oils Soft

Hong Kong bourse receded drastically by more than 2,100 pts yesterday (8th), but bounced back and opened higher this morning (9th). The HSI opened 363 pts or 1.7% higher at 21,290; the HSCEI opened 132 pts or 1.8% higher at 7,616; and the HSTECH opened 124 pts or 2.6% higher at 4,819.

For techs, BABA-W (09988.HK) and TENCENT (00700.HK) surged 2.6% and 2.4%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) spiked 4.5%- 5.1%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) added 1.1%-1.7%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) leaped 2.8%. For semis, HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) and SMIC (00981.HK) rallied 4% and 4.6%.

BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) jumped up 2%. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), NIO-SW (09866.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) mounted 3.8%-4.3%. With oil prices retreating, oils PETROCHINA (00857.HK) and CNOOC (00883.HK) dipped 1.6% and 1.8%.

For financials, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) sank 0.2%. HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) soared 2.1% and 3.1%. Chinese insurers CHINA TAIPING (00966.HK) and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) spiked 4.6% and 3.9%.
